Lean Quality Engineer (Various)

This cross functional team player will lead, identify, and implement the Quality System at the plant and corporate level using Lean techniques for quality improvement.

The role will identify best practices, processes, and standard work for the integration into the company's quality and manufacturing strategy to ensure consistent high quality results.  
Job Description
  • Works cross functionally to assist in the execution of new, complex, revised, and / or high orders.
  • Performs continuous improvement activities using lean tools for cost reduction, quality improvement, improved efficiency, and improved material flow.P
  • Conducts internal audits by collecting and analyzing data. Records results and shares lessons learned.
  • Assists plant in solving warranty claims. Initiates corrective actions.
  • Supports research, design and the development of safe manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods, welding processes and production equipment.
  • Provides technical expertise to ensure utilization of current quality procedures to maintain high standards of quality and reliability for Morgan processes and products. Takes a proactive stance to mitigate the risk of defects.
  • Responsible for the formulation of new testing procedures for quality checks. Develops and revises quality standards and standard work.
  • Educate and train staff on machinery, processes, lean foundational strategies, safety and quality.
  • Prepares and maintains work instructions, setup instructions, and detailed layouts of the facility’s property, buildings, and equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • BS degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • 4+ years experience in heavy industrial.
  • Strong leadership experience and strong team player.
  • Ability to plan, organize, communicate, and motivate employees. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Experience with existing manufacturing technologies: welding, joining, metal working, manual assembly, and/or painting (certification in one of these fields is a plus)
  • High level of mechanical aptitude.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Green Belt certification (Black Belt preferred). 
  • Practical Lean principles experience with the proven success to facilitate change with proven success using these tools. 
  • Proven ability to facilitate change and knowledge of Lean tools and techniques.
  • Ability to think ahead and plan for three to six-month time spans.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects as well as own work schedule.
  • Must have the ability to read blueprints, drawings, and other quality measuring equipment.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Minitab.
  • Experience with factory automation, maintenance, and integrating engineering designs into production (highly preferred)
  • Ability to train at numerous company locations.
