RF Designer Engineer (NY)

Description: 
  • Perform design and analysis tasks on electronic and electromechanical hardware including circuit boards, electro-mechanical devices, and electronics packaging of components.
  • Program support includes design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, component selection, integration and test support, materials selection, design documentation and collaboration with manufacturing operations.
  • Work within a multi-functional team environment under the direction of a lead
  • Utilize Cadence Incisive Enterprise Simulator, and associated tools
  • Work with cross-functional teams to meet manufacturability, testability and other DFx requirements for volume production
  • Responsible for supporting existing military communication products and system designs in manufacturing and pre-release to manufacturing
  • Work with obsolescence team to mitigate obsolete devices through redesign of Radio sub-assemblies
  • Must have the ability to analyze a new product design and communicate technical information as to how and why it works the way it does to support staff
  • Work as part of the design team support group to make necessary design changes prior to and during the launch of a new product
  • Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
  • Understanding of circuit card design and the Cadence software suite used to generate circuit card designs
  • Work closely with design teams to introduce new radio designs into the factory
  • Must be able to identify impact of unforeseen problems and elevate significant problems to appropriate management personnel
  • Ability to design and conduct engineering experiments and evaluate and act upon test results
  • Basic hardware troubleshooting ability including analog and RF components and circuits
  • Determine radio and process improvements to increase test yields and product quality
  • Outlining new testing requirements and assets required to support the product
  • Ability to troubleshoot military radios and systems to component level and perform design changes to improve performance
  • Responsible for conducting and supporting engineering tests and detailed experiments in support of customer applications
  • Work with outside vendors and quality team to address material discrepancies
  • Prepare periodic status presentations for management
  • taking complex investigations and presenting them in a concise manner along with outlining trade-offs
  • RF Power Amplifier experience a must
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of 6+ years electrical engineering experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. 
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Working knowledge of FAR/DFAR Small Business Program/Plan requirements
  • Working knowledge of ITAR & EAR regulations
  • Experience with MS Office including advanced spreadsheet manipulation and presentation creation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of organization & supplier base
